I still play oblivion, and I know few other people who still play it. there are far more mods and customization available.
Skyrim should catch up in 6 months to a year because people need to be familiar with the coding to make really good mods.

I did play Oblivion for quite a long time, a year or so ago. I still have the GOTY Edition somewhere in my desk, gotta search for it.
