There has always been hate on new users. A lot of the regular, well known users probably went through the same hate when they first came here. I know that I had a few people that didn't like (I probably still do :b) but I was lucky enough to find a few friends. I think the hate is pretty acceptable. It makes the annoying ones leave and anyone who doesn't leave can usually end up proving that they can become a fairly decent member of the NG community.

New users always get hate, but if they make good posts consistently, people take notice of them and start to like them. It's the way it's always been.

It´s pretty common that new users are hated, although I never saw much hate towards me, but I didn´t use the forum in the first months a lot, so maybe I just missed that period.
I saw this behaviour happen quite some times, but I don´t blame new users, first off all it´s generally not fair to be mean to someone, and these new users have to get the chance to become a part of the community, it can´t be expected that they know how to behave on a forum from the beginning, most of them are quite young and not familiar with such strict rules like they exist on BBS( and that´s a good aspect, but a quite difficult matter for new users).

I also took a look at your art, like you recommended, and to be honest they are not quite good at the moment, but I see creative potenial in them. Maybe you should try first to draw some sketches with hand, which you can then scan and upload, so that me and other users can get an insight where your strong points are in making art, if they are solid enough, you could start making more art or even flashes, but then you should consider to buy a tablet, I heard from a lot of people that it´s way easier to work with them.
